For those wishing to discover a more unexplored part of Mexico, TUI is now launching a new destination this winter – the quiet village of El Cuyo on the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Mexico's Caribbean coast has been a popular destination for Nordics for several years, with many returning travelers. TUI is currently the only travel operator to offer direct flights to Mexico from Sweden during the winter months. This year, TUI is investing even more in Mexico by launching a brand new destination: El Cuyo. The quiet village is nestled in tropical greenery in the middle of a long, narrow strip of land with a connection to the mainland. In this small beach paradise in northeastern Yucatan, you can live a relaxed barefoot life with access to a long white sandy beach and fantastic nature experiences far away from the busy tourist resorts. Depending on the season, you can see wildlife such as flamingos, turtles and dolphins. It is also the perfect place for kitesurfing.

El Cuyo is a perfect destination for travelers who appreciate beach walks and total relaxation. The area is easy to discover on foot in about half an hour and in the small village there are a few restaurants, cafes and street-food places. There are no large hotel complexes here, only smaller hotels with personal character.

– Mexico is incredibly diverse and offers authentic nature and food experiences, a rich culture and history with, for example, the World Heritage Site Chichén Itzá, as well as a wide range of shopping and nightlife – all in one destination. Our new destination El Cuyo can be advantageously combined with some of the more popular tourist destinations to get the best of everything Mexico has to offer, says Tommy Serban, Commercial Director in the Nordics at TUI.

A popular form of travel among TUI travelers is a two-week combination trip. The advantage is that you don't have to stay in the same place for your entire vacation, but can combine two different destinations for a week each. The first week you can experience the luxury and dynamic nightlife of Cancun, and then spend the second week relaxing in the much quieter El Cuyo or Isla Holbox.

Expanding the range of hotels on the Mayan Riviera
In addition to the new El Cuyo, TUI is also adding several new hotels in the mid-range and luxury segments. In popular Tulum, TUI is expanding the program and offering accommodation both in the city center and directly on the beach in both simpler hotels and larger resorts. Some of the new hotels include Blue Star Viva Maya by Windham in Playa del Carmen, Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya just outside Tulum and Thomson Playa del Carmen, among others.
