Over four weeks of waiting in several parts of Sweden
Don't wait too long if you need to renew or get a new passport for the summer. In many places across the country, you have to wait more than a month before you can book an appointment.
As the summer holidays approach and Swedes plan trips abroad, queues at the country's passport offices tend to increase. Currently, there are long waiting times to book an appointment.
The waiting times in Region Syd are long, where in most places people have to wait more than four weeks, reports Sveriges Radio.
In Malmö, you have to wait until 22 July for an available appointment. In Gothenburg, you have to wait just over three weeks, and in Stockholm, just under two.
Over a month's waiting time
In Ystad, the first available appointment is at the end of July. For a period, the passport office in Ystad will also be open on Saturdays in an attempt to shorten queues, reports Ystad Allehanda.
Even in Hudiksvall, there's a month's wait for an appointment. In Umeå, it's the same. In Vilhelmina, they still have drop-in services until autumn when they will introduce appointments.
One tip is to regularly check the online booking system to see if new appointment times have been released. You can also apply at police stations other than the one you live in if you cannot find an available time.
