Low-cost airline Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary is selling shares in the company for just over a quarter of a billion kronor, according to Di's Irish sister newspaper. Business Post.
This concerns 1 million shares, which the CEO sold on Wednesday for 24.50 euros per share. This corresponds to a total amount of just over 274 million kronor.
The sale comes just weeks after Michael O'Leary received a bonus worth just over 1.1 billion Swedish kronor, which the Irish newspaper said was one of the largest payouts in European corporate history.
But he is not the only company executive who is now taking the opportunity to press the sell button. Board member Roisín Brennan also sold 50,000 ordinary shares in Ryanair on Thursday, for the equivalent of just over SEK 7.5 million.
Michael O'Leary has been Ryanair's CEO since 1994, and previously served as CFO, a role he took on in 1988. He has extended his contract as CEO until 2028, and under the new contract, he will receive an annual salary of €1.2 million. To top it off, he can also receive a bonus of up to 50 percent of his base salary, each year.
