The pressured aircraft manufacturer Boeing now states that it has corrected the software problem believed to be behind the two fatal accidents with the company's Max 737 model. This is reported by CNBC.
The stock is trading up 2.8 percent on the New York Stock Exchange.
Boeing said in a statement on Thursday evening that the faulty software in the 737 Max has now been updated. The company's engineers have also conducted successful tests on the plane, which was grounded after two serious accidents.
Boeing now intends to work with the US aviation authority to have the flight ban lifted, according to the statement.
”"With safety as our clear priority, we have completed all engineering test flights for the updated software and are preparing for a final certification flight," Boeing CEO and Chairman Dennis Muilenburg wrote in the statement.
That the update was on the way was expected as the US aviation authority on Wednesday stated expectations that Boeing would submit documentation on software updates in the coming weeks.
However, it is still unclear when the plane, which has been parked since March, can be put back into use.
