With timeless design and durability in focus, Gothia Towers' appeal will become even stronger. The first result: Gothenburg's newest hotel rooms – which are 40 years old.

Gothia Towers, one of Europe's largest hotels, has entered into a collaboration with the architectural firm Wingårdhs. With a comprehensive renovation of both hotel and conference rooms, as well as the lobby, the entire Svenska Mässan Gothia Towers will continue to develop as an attractive and competitive meeting place in the heart of Gothenburg.

A first result of this renewal is Gothenburg's newest hotel rooms, which have now opened to guests. The total of 80 rooms on floors 12–15 in Gothia Towers' central tower were originally built in 1984 and have been completely renovated in the brand-new room category, Premium.

– With so many new hotel rooms recently built in Gothenburg, we're delighted to be able to offer renovated rooms that also stand out with their beautiful Scandinavian calm and a sustainable profile, says Elisabeth Thomson, Chief Operations Officer, Hotel, Food, Beverage and Services at Svenska Mässan Gothia Towers.

”Genuinely Sustainable”

Thoughtful attention to detail and smart, considered choices permeate Gothenburg's newest hotel rooms. The decor and furnishings are designed to last, and if something breaks, it should be easy to replace or repair. In each room, the view is framed by a long sofa with storage underneath for luggage, reducing wear and tear. A custom-designed storage wall provides convenient access to the minibar, and business travellers working in the room can sit comfortably at a desk niche.

– Gothia Towers is a secure player in the competition and dares to be itself: steadfast, self-evident, and robust. The new rooms are a continuation of this, exuding confidence and relaxed elegance. Natural material choices and furnishings will age and gain patina over time, which is truly sustainable, says David Regestam, lead interior architect at Wingårdhs.

Attractive spaces both in height and length

The collaboration between Gothia Towers and Wingårdhs continues with an update to the hotel's lobby, followed by planned further room renovations. New restaurant concepts will be launched in the lobby, while the various lounge areas will be altered in both content and appearance, with recognition extending both up into the towers and along the 285-metre-long foyer.

– The lobby is our shop window, and our ambition is to create attractive spaces together with Wingårdhs that, in various ways, match the needs of our guests and visitors – while simultaneously having a common thread that frames the feel of our entire meeting place, concludes Elisabeth Thomson.

According to a press release.
