In connection with the fact that the first building permit applications have now been submitted for Gröna Lund's new expansion, completely new vision images are also being presented that show how the area will be designed. The inspiration for the architecture and thematics of the area is taken from the Stockholm Exhibition in 1897, which took place on Djurgården.
– Gröna Lund's new area will draw inspiration from times gone by and specifically the Stockholm Exhibition that took place at the same location in 1897. The historical connection will characterize the architecture, but we also want to capture the positive spirit and inventiveness that characterized the era. Our vision is for the area to become an oasis of experiences, entertainment, food and magical environments. We want to create a place where all guests can feel joy and faith in the future, something we need now more than ever, says Christer Fogelmarck, CEO of Parks and Resorts.
The first planning permission applications for the Gröna Lund development have now been submitted and the first to be built are the characteristic fringe buildings that will surround the area. The buildings will borrow architectural elements from historic buildings in and around the area and will be characterised by small-scale architecture similar to that in Djurgårdsstaden and the nearby Wasahamnen.
