Earlier this year, it was announced that the operation of the Stena Line-owned hotel The Reef in Fredrikshamn will be taken over by the Strawberry hotel group, under the name Quality Hotel The Reef. In connection with a concept development, an extensive renovation of The Reef will begin in November, where, among other things, the hotel's popular water park will be upgraded.

Before the summer, it was announced that the Strawberry hotel group would take over the operation of The Reef in Frederikshavn, Denmark, which has been owned by the ferry company Stena Line since 1987. The hotel, which will be called Quality Hotel The Reef, has been a popular destination for travelers traveling on Stena Line's route between Gothenburg and Frederikshavn since it opened.

An extensive renovation will begin in November, upgrading the hotel's water park, common areas, conference facilities and hotel lobby. The hotel rooms were renovated as recently as 2020. The hotel will also have a new restaurant concept, and the ambition is to contribute to an increased attractiveness for Fredrikshamn and create an experience that both guests and locals can greatly enjoy in the future.

”We look forward to the renovation of The Reef. The hotel has long been a popular destination for Stena Line customers traveling between Gothenburg and Frederikshavn. With the renovation, we are convinced that, together with Strawberry, we can create an even stronger reason to travel and experience for guests within different target groups,”, says Christina Bromander, Trade Director for Business Region Denmark at Stena Line.

”"The ambition is to create an even more attractive destination and raise the quality further. The hotel has been a popular destination for generations and we will build on that position. We look forward to continuing to develop the concept and, together with our guests, creating unforgettable experiences in Fredrikshamn"”, says Jannicka Jingryd, VP Quality Hotels at Strawberry.

Quality Hotel The Reef has 210 hotel rooms, a large water park with 10 pools, conference and event facilities, a gym and two restaurants.

“We are entering an exciting time that marks a new chapter for us. Our goal is to create a focal point in Frederikshavn, where guests and locals will feel at home and experience world-class quality. In the coming months, we will do our utmost to ensure our guests' experiences, while realizing the ambitious visions and promoting Frederikshavn as a highly attractive destination.”, says Marianne Bredevang, hotel director at Quality Hotel The Reef.

The hotel will remain open while the work is underway, but the water park will be closed from November 4. The work is expected to be completed by summer 2025.

According to the press release.
