Scandinavian Airlines Systems (SAS) has officially inaugurated its new direct route between Copenhagen Kastrup Airport and Malta. The first flight took off on March 31 at 12:35.
To celebrate the long-awaited flight connection, all passengers on board received a specially composed goodie bag.
The atmosphere was at its peak at Kastrup Airport ahead of departure, where travelers were welcomed at the gate and SAS staff were on hand to celebrate the new route.

The new route will be operated by modern and fuel-efficient Airbus A320neo aircraft with seating for 180 passengers. The route will operate twice a week – on Fridays and Mondays – giving travellers the choice of a longer holiday week or a shorter weekend break. With a flight time of just over three hours, it is now easier for travellers from Denmark and southern Sweden to experience Malta’s rich history, fascinating culture and sunny climate.
Malta is SAS's southernmost destination in the Mediterranean, and the new route is expected to contribute to increased tourism and strengthen economic ties between Scandinavia and the island nation. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, historical attractions and a vibrant cultural life, Malta is an attractive year-round destination for both leisure and business travelers.
The Malta Tourism Authority looks forward to developing this route and giving even more travelers the opportunity to experience the sun-drenched archipelago.
