The brand is very much on trend and attracts a new generation of hotel guests from all over the world. With Scandic Go, we are taking a big step to further develop the economy segment in the Nordic region, and we see great expansion opportunities both within and outside our Nordic markets, says Jens Mathiesen, CEO & Group Director of Scandic Hotels Group.
The budget segment within the hotel industry has grown rapidly in recent years and is expected to expand further, driven by changing travel behaviour and new economic conditions for many travellers. Scandic Go therefore attracts with a good price, inviting design, seamless self-service, breakfast and hot meals around the clock.
The rooms at Scandic Go are designed with smart solutions and storage options. The newly opened hotel on Upplandsgatan in Stockholm focuses on double rooms, but guests at future Scandic Go hotels will also be offered bunk beds for groups of friends who want to spend more time together while saving money. Those who wish to relax in their room can easily connect their phone to the TV and stream content. To make travelling light easy, laundry facilities will be available on-site.
Guests are welcomed by a lounge bar with a café feel. The traditional breakfast buffet has been replaced by a cup of coffee or tea with a selection of croissants, sandwiches, and juices at a good price. A carefully selected range of street food and hearty grilled sandwiches summarise the hot kitchen, and guests can easily order via mobile.
– Scandic Go will offer a smart stay for those focused on experiencing the city. We need to understand and adapt to the new generation of travellers where the hotel stay itself is often not the main focus. We therefore do not want to limit anyone with fixed meals or paying for other services in the price of a hotel room. Stay centrally, eat when you want, travel light and easily manage your stay via your mobile, says Thérèse Cedercreutz, Chief Commercial Officer at Scandic Hotels Group.
The hotel has been environmentally certified with the Swan, and by testing new materials, as well as investing in sustainable surface treatments and interiors with the lowest possible CO2 emissions, Scandic Go aims to offer a more environmentally friendly hotel experience. Recycled materials have been prioritised at the hotel, for example chairs made from coffee grounds and tabletops from recycled textiles. Where possible, items used in the hotel can be dismantled for further use or recycling.
Scandic Go, Upplandsgatan 4 is the first to open. Already in the summer of 2024, the next Scandic Go will open, this time centrally located at Fridhemsplan on Kungsholmen in Stockholm. More openings are expected, and the long-term goal is to become the market leader in the economy segment in the Nordic region and to increase the pace of expansion outside the Nordic region.
